SIREE I. MORRIS
A Visionary Leader in Real Estate and Community Development
Siree I. Morris has established himself as a pioneering force in real estate development and community impact. Through designing and constructing large-scale projects, he recognized the critical importance of market sustainability via sound property management and construction practices. This insight led to the founding of MCI in 2013, a vertically integrated firm that develops and manages its own properties throughout Northern New Jersey.
MCI has been at the forefront of innovation in the real estate industry. Notably, in 2015, Siree designed and received approval for New Jersey's first multi-family housing project constructed from shipping containers, a groundbreaking initiative that garnered attention from The Wall Street Journal. Initially specializing in urban infill multi-family developments, MCI has since expanded its portfolio to include transformative low-, mid-, and high-rise projects.
Among its flagship developments, MCI broke ground in September 2024 on a $336 million mixed-use project in collaboration with the New Jersey Performing Arts Center (NJPAC). This development includes a 25-story tower and a six-story low-rise building. Most recently, the firm began construction on a $94 million, 250-unit mixed-use project with the Newark Museum, featuring a 12-story mid-rise and a seven-story low-rise structure housing an art gallery. As of January 2025, MCI has 600 units under construction, 71 units slated to break ground in Q3 2025, and 421 additional units scheduled between 2026 and 2027. With its robust pipeline, MCI has solidified its position as a leader in commercial real estate.
Siree, MCI, and their ventures have been widely recognized, with features on NBC, ABC’s Good Morning America, MSNBC, CNBC, WPIX 11, News 12 NJ, The New York Times, and the Commercial Observer, among others. He was named a top influencer of color by ROI-NJ for his holistic approach to revitalization, emphasizing economic growth, housing, employment, and entertainment.
A Commitment to Community Impact
Beyond real estate, Siree is deeply committed to giving back to his hometown of Newark, NJ. During the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, he transformed a six-acre demolished baseball stadium into Newark Moonlight Cinema, America’s first Black-owned drive-in movie theater. This initiative served over 30,000 customers in just four months and was featured on major outlets like NBC, ABC, Good Morning America, CBS, CNBC, NPR, and BBC.
Siree’s projects consistently reflect his ability to identify opportunities that drive economic growth. He has developed and completed over $10 million in private projects, created over 100 job opportunities, and spurred more than $5 million in additional real estate and business development. His recent venture, Dasher’s Light Show, redeveloped an eight-acre vacant Newark parcel into a Christmas light attraction that drew over 40,000 visitors during the holiday season.
MCI also invests in arts and culture, sponsoring free public events across New Jersey and as far as Art Basel in Miami. The firm supports various nonprofits, local sports leagues, and youth mentoring programs. Siree personally mentors students in Essex and Middlesex counties, speaks at local schools, and runs the Kings in Training program at Peshine Avenue Elementary School and Malcolm X Shabazz High School.
Siree has been an active leader in real estate organizations, including the Urban Land Institute (ULI), the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC), and the Real Estate Associate Program (REAP NYC). He is an alumnus of Leadership Newark (Class of 2017), Rutgers University’s EPI program, and other development initiatives.
A Foundation in Excellence
Siree’s journey began in Newark, NJ, where he graduated from Maple Avenue Elementary and University High School. He earned a Civil Engineering degree from Rutgers University in 2005 and later graduated from PROJECT REAP in 2011. He obtained his New Jersey Real Estate Salesperson License in 2013.
Early in his career, Siree interned at Pulte Homes and Edgewood Properties, where he honed his expertise in site design, stormwater management, and project management. Over two decades, he has designed and obtained approvals for over 2,000 acres of land in New Jersey, serving high-profile clients such as Walmart, Costco, Wegmans, and BJ’s Wholesale.
Personal Life
In 2016, Siree married his college sweetheart, and together, they are raising two sons. His commitment to family, faith, and community remains at the heart of everything he does, ensuring his legacy extends beyond business to inspire meaningful change in Newark and beyond.
